A writer in Provence - Marita van der Vyver

There's a whole sub-genre of 'I went to live in Provence where the locals are crazy but fun'. I wonder if there's a sub-genre in French, along the lines of 'I left my beautiful Provencal village for a Paris slum because I couldn't stand all those merde foreigners taking over my village'?

Peter Mayle, from his beloved Lubéron, leads the first group. But it has a long and honorable heritage: I recently re-read pieces from between the wars by Winifred, Lady Fortescue, in my collection of old Blackwoods magazines.

They formed the basis for her book Perfume from Provence, first out in 1935 and republished to renewed acclaim in 1992.
