The first major fires of the season have already struck the region. Yesterday afternoon over 5,000 sqm of wooded land burned from Mougins to Mouans-Sartoux.
Fortunately the area was sparsely inhabited. Due to the danger of high winds a major operation was put into effect with fifty firemen and police from Cannes and Grasse as well as police units from Mougins and Mouans-Sartoux mobilized. The air fire brigade dropped water five times before bringing the blaze under control.
