In 1972, Elsa Cooper now 68 years old, married a rich British business man. Upon his death five years later the psychiatrist inherited a huge fortune. However at the end of the 1990's the widow of this English lord was robbed of $18,267,000 (16 million Euro). This cosy sum of money was the proceeds from the sale of two hotels and three apartments in Beaulieu, a comfortable resident in London and a Rolls Royce. But Elsa never saw a centime.
The buyers of the properties and goods initiated a web of complicated and devious ways in order to avoid paying her. They intended to buy time to resell the properties, which had not cost them a dime. The widow was given a forged cheque, Italian Lire and other monies all rejected by the bank.
