Scotch beef back on the Côte d'Azur

Scotch beef is back on the Côte d'Azur after a ten-year absence. Celebration of the return of the viande écossaise came last week at Monaco's Columbus Hotel, the first stop in a Europe-wide awareness-raising campaign, organized by Quality Meat of Scotland, to reintroduce continental palates to the meat's attributes.

The Columbus event offered importers and exporters from France, Monaco and Italy the opportunity to get together with a view to re-establishing trade links, now that the European ban on British beef has been lifted. The businessmen, along with representatives of the Monégasque government, journalists and chefs also had a chance to taste test the Scotch product at a dinner whose organizers proved their point by offering fillet from Perthshire that needed no switch to a steak knife.
