What to do in Marseille

Marseille is the second-largest city in France, complete with its own metro and a Parisian-style division into 'arrondissements' of which there are more than one hundred. Each 'quartier' has the set-up of a little village, with a church and little town square where the citizens of Marseille play the game of Boules. Centred around a 26-century old port, it is also France's oldest city.
The Phoenicians founded the city around 600 BC, after which it was taken over by the Greeks, and later still it was conquered by the Romans. More recently Marseille has been linked to Paris by TGV, giving the city a boost in tourism, and making it a trendy place to hang out!
