New EU rules for air passengers

Source: news.bbc.co.uk. Posted on 22 February 2005.

Airline passengers are now entitled to greater compensation if their flight is overbooked, cancelled or delayed.

The new EU-wide rules will offer compensation from between EUR 250 and EUR 600 depending on the length of the journey involved.

Airlines have said that the new rules will cause more confusion amongst passengers and that any payments should take into account the ticket price, and not be a flat rate.
